Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how JBB, LLC, doing business as Stratum ("Stratum," "we," "us," "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the Stratum application for Mac and Windows, our website at stratumstats.com, and our licensing and purchase services (collectively, the "Services"). It applies to customers and visitors worldwide, including the United States, the European Economic Area (EEA), and the United Kingdom.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to deliver licenses, activate the app, process purchases, secure the Services, and provide support. This may include:
- Email address — to issue and deliver your trial or license key, to send purchase and license-related messages, and, if you opt in, product news.
- License and activation data — your license key and a device identifier used to enforce per-license machine limits.
- Technical request data — when you activate, validate, or purchase, our servers may log your IP address and browser/app user-agent. We use these to operate and secure the Services (rate-limiting, fraud and abuse prevention) and as part of the record of your agreement acceptance.
- Purchase information — orders are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and a receipt reference.
- Support communications — messages you send us and the information you choose to include in them.
- Agreement records — a record that you accepted our End User License Agreement (version, timestamp, IP address, user-agent, and related metadata).
- Usage & diagnostic data — the app may send events about how it's used (which features and analyses you open, and whether an action succeeded), along with your platform, operating-system version, app version, and the hashed device identifier above. Our servers record the country a request came from.
The Stratum application performs your statistical analyses locally on your computer. The data files and analyses you work with are not sent to us.
2. How We Use Information
- To create, deliver, activate, validate, and manage your trial or license.
- To process purchases, upgrades, and renewals, and to send the associated keys and receipts.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To send product news only if you have opted in; you can opt out at any time.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues, to secure the Services, and to comply with legal obligations.
- To understand how the app is used and to improve it.
We may also use aggregated or de-identified information, which does not identify you, for any purpose.
Legal bases (EEA/UK). Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your information to perform our contract with you (delivering and managing your license), for our legitimate interests (securing the Services, preventing fraud, and improving the app through usage analytics), with your consent (marketing email, which you can withdraw at any time), and to comply with our legal obligations (tax and accounting). You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests at any time — see Section 8.
3. Service Providers
We may share information with providers who process it on our behalf to operate the Services, including:
- Payment processing — Stripe, Inc.
- License issuance, activation, and validation.
- Delivery of transactional and (if opted in) marketing email.
- Website hosting and delivery.
- Website analytics and advertising measurement — see section 4.
These providers are required to protect the information and to use it for those purposes.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of business assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Cookies, Analytics & Our Website
Our website uses Google Analytics and the Google Ads conversion tag to measure how the site is used and whether an advertisement led to a download or a purchase. Both set cookies in your browser; an advertising click identifier is stored for up to 90 days.
In the EEA and the United Kingdom these tags stay off until you accept the banner shown on your first visit. Elsewhere they are on when the page loads, and the Cookie settings link in the site footer turns them off at any time.
Some tutorial and blog pages embed YouTube videos in privacy-enhanced ("no-cookie") mode. If you play one, YouTube may collect information under Google's Privacy Policy.
5. International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers process information there. If you use the Services from the EEA or the United Kingdom, your information is transferred to the United States under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide and support your license and to satisfy legal, accounting, and tax requirements. When information is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete it.
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure.
8. Your Privacy Rights
You may opt out of marketing email at any time using the link in any such email, or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights over your personal information. To exercise one, contact us using the details in Section 10; we will verify your request and respond as the law requires.
EEA & United Kingdom (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal information, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The updated version is effective as soon as it is posted, and material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" above and, where appropriate, by additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
