Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how JBB, LLC, doing business as Stratum ("Stratum," "we," "us," "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the Stratum application for Mac and Windows, our website at stratumstats.com, and our licensing and purchase services (collectively, the "Services"). It applies to customers and visitors worldwide, including the United States, the European Economic Area (EEA), and the United Kingdom.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is needed to deliver licenses, activate the app, process purchases, secure the Services, and provide support:

  • Email address — to issue and deliver your trial or license key, to send purchase and license-related messages, and, if you opt in, product news.
  • License and activation data — your license key and a device identifier used to enforce per-license machine limits. The device identifier is a one-way hash; your computer's raw hardware identifiers are never transmitted to us.
  • Technical request data — when you activate, validate, or purchase, our servers automatically log your IP address and browser/app user-agent. We use these to operate and secure the Services (rate-limiting, fraud and abuse prevention) and as part of the record of your agreement acceptance.
  • Purchase information — orders are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and a receipt reference, but we do not collect or store your full payment card details.
  • Support communications — messages you send us and the information you choose to include in them.
  • Agreement records — a record that you accepted our End User License Agreement (version, timestamp, IP address, user-agent, and related metadata).

The Stratum application performs your statistical analyses locally on your computer. The data files and analyses you work with are not sent to us.

2. How We Use Information

  • To create, deliver, activate, validate, and manage your trial or license.
  • To process purchases, upgrades, and renewals, and to send the associated keys and receipts.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To send product news only if you have opted in; you can opt out at any time.
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues, to secure the Services, and to comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases (EEA/UK). Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your information to perform our contract with you (delivering and managing your license), for our legitimate interests (securing the Services and preventing fraud), with your consent (marketing email, which you can withdraw at any time), and to comply with our legal obligations (tax and accounting).

3. Service Providers

We share limited information with providers who process it on our behalf, solely to operate the Services:

  • Stripe, Inc. — payment processing.
  • Keygen — license issuance, activation, and validation.
  • Fastmail — delivery of transactional and (if opted in) marketing email.

These providers are bound to use the information only to provide their services to us. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Cookies, Analytics & Our Website

Our website does not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics. We do not build advertising profiles or track you across other sites.

Some tutorial and blog pages may embed videos using YouTube's privacy-enhanced ("no-cookie") mode, which does not set tracking cookies unless you choose to play a video. If you play an embedded video, YouTube may collect information under Google's Privacy Policy.

5. International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States, and our service providers (Stripe, Keygen, and Fastmail) process information in the United States. If you access the Services from the EEA, the United Kingdom, or elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your country. Where required, such transfers are made under appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Data Retention

We retain licensing, purchase, and agreement records for as long as needed to provide the Services, support your license, and meet legal, accounting, and tax requirements. Support communications are kept as needed to assist you. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

7. Security

We protect your information with reasonable technical and organizational measures: connections to our licensing and purchase services are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), device identifiers are stored only as one-way hashes, and full payment card details are handled solely by Stripe and never reach our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to limit access to it.

8. Your Privacy Rights

You may opt out of marketing email at any time using the link in any such email or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information. To exercise any right, contact us using the details in Section 11; we will verify and respond as required by law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

California (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

EEA & United Kingdom (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal information, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.

9. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" above and, where appropriate, by additional notice.
