ANOVA software · Mac & Windows

ANOVA software that reports the effect size, not just the p.

Leave with an ANOVA you can publish: the effect size reported alongside the p, and the right post-hoc test chosen for the data rather than left to you — Tukey HSD when variances are equal, Welch and Games-Howell when Levene’s says they are not. Native on Mac and Windows, bought once. Free to try on your own data before you decide.

A One-Way ANOVA report in Stratum: the effects table with an eta-squared column, group means with 95% confidence intervals, and Levene’s test naming the post-hoc each sub-group supports
ANOVA, with what it means. The effects table carries an eta-squared column, the group means carry 95% confidence intervals, and Levene’s test names the assumption it is checking.
Two-Way ANOVA effects table headed Type III (partial) sums of squares with a partial eta-squared column
Factorial, with effect size. Type III partial sums of squares and partial η² beside F and p — the number a reviewer asks for.
A One-Way ANOVA report in Stratum with sub-groups ranked by p-value
Ranked by p. A one-way ANOVA across every sub-group at once, sorted so the effects that matter surface first — click to read the full table.
A Q-Q plot used to check the normality assumption for ANOVA
Normality, checked not assumed. A Q-Q plot beside the analysis that depends on it.
A box plot of a measurement across four groups, used to check the equal-variance assumption for ANOVA
Equal variance, visible. The spread across groups before you trust a pooled error term.

Compare means across three or more groups

One-Way ANOVA — SS, df, MS, F and p with η² beside them, so you can report how big the difference is and not only that it exists.

Two or more factors at once

Factorial ANOVA — main effects and interactions on Type III (partial) sums of squares, with partial η² per term.

Which groups actually differ

Tukey HSD — all pairwise comparisons with adjusted p values and confidence intervals, not a wall of uncorrected t-tests.

Unequal variances between groups

Welch & Games-Howell — offered when Levene’s test says the equal-variance assumption does not hold, rather than left for you to remember.

Check the assumptions first

Q-Q plots, Levene’s test — normality and equal variance checked beside the analysis that depends on them.

Adjust for a covariate

ANCOVA — analysis of covariance, so a baseline measurement stops masking the group effect you care about.

Several outcomes at once

MANOVA — Wilks’ lambda, Pillai’s trace, Hotelling-Lawley and Roy’s largest root, with univariate follow-ups. Professional.

When the assumptions will not hold at all

Kruskal-Wallis — the non-parametric equivalent, alongside Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon for two-group work.

Point-and-click throughout — and equally native on a Mac, where most statistics packages are Windows-first.

In one report. One-way and factorial ANOVA, ANCOVA and MANOVA arrive with the assumption checks and the post-hoc tests already beside them — Levene’s and the Q-Q plot, Tukey HSD or Games-Howell, and η² next to F and p. One pass, at a one-time price, and equally native on a Mac.

What you get alongside it

ANOVA is in Stratum’s Standard edition together with the everyday toolkit — descriptive statistics by group, two-sample and paired t-tests with non-parametric equivalents, correlation and scatter matrices, contingency tests, and linear and multiple regression with full diagnostics. Professional adds PCA, MANOVA, correspondence analysis, clustering, decision trees and SPC. Import your .csv, .xlsx or .sav and try it on your own data first.

Frequently asked questions

Does Stratum do one-way and two-way ANOVA?

Yes — one-way and factorial (two-way and higher), with main effects and interactions reported on Type III partial sums of squares.

Which post-hoc test does it use?

Tukey HSD for pairwise comparisons when variances are equal. When Levene’s test indicates they are not, Welch’s ANOVA and Games-Howell are offered instead.

Does it report effect size?

Yes — η² for one-way and partial η² per term in factorial models, beside F and p rather than in a separate dialog. There is more on this in effect size explained.

Can I check the assumptions?

Yes — Q-Q plots, normality tests and Levene’s test sit beside the analysis. Checking ANOVA’s assumptions walks through what to look at and what to do when one fails.

Does Stratum run on Mac?

Yes — Stratum is a native app for both macOS 14+ and Windows 10/11, so ANOVA works the same on either.

Is it a subscription?

No — Stratum is a one-time purchase. You can upgrade from Standard to Professional later.
